Glastonbury fans got more than they bargained for when Coldplay brought out actor Michael J. Fox during their headline show at Worthy Farm. Moreover, Michael, known for his iconic role in Back to the Future joined the band in a historic musical moment; one which will be looked back on for years.

Introduced by frontman Chris Martin, Fox, who has been courageously battling Parkinson’s Disease since 1991, was wheeled onto the Pyramid Stage amid enthusiastic cheers from the audience. Martin introduced him with a nod to Fox’s Back to the Future character: “With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J Fox.”

Michael played guitar alongside the band during “Fix You” and “Humankind”. As you would expect, it brought a poignant sense of nostalgia and inspiration to the set. So much so, the crowd erupted as the actor and Coldplay delivered a heartfelt rendition of the classic songs. Chris also said: “The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the Future. So thank you to Michael, our hero.”
